Updating operating system on mac
I think this happened to me a few years back and I had to start over from a time machine back up. It will just replace the corrupted system files with new one and that should fix the problem. If that didn't work, then click Reinstall Mac OS X and follow the instructions.
Turn it off by holding down the Power button for 5-10 seconds. Both times it appeared to install then stalled out on the screen: all black with white apple and the only difference was the white progress bar appeared to be completely white, but the nothing. This time the reinstall should work because we erased the hard drive and this would create a fresh partition structure.
So if you do install Mojave, or any recent version of mac OS on an old Mac, be it High Sierra, Sierra or something else, don't expect it to run smoothly.
Apple advises that mac OS Mojave will run on the following Macs: That means that if your Mac is older than 2012 it won't officially be able to run Mojave.
