Starting from today every time I start it up, it validates the steam cache files. One time I somehow managed to launch it, then my computer crashed because it was running to much stuff and now I can't get back on at all.The validating that TF2 does just means some things are out of order in the files and it need to run down a check list every time you run it and the easiest way to fix is to just start over. For OP - (as i posted this on a reply to the top comment) - There is an easy fix but it requires patience, go into the properties of TF2 in steam, there on one of the tabs you will find an option to "Defragment game cache", depending on how good your system is this will take a while. Then there is another option to "Verify integrity of Game Cache" Do this also.In the end, though, I assure you it's worth it because now I don't have to sit through that annoying pop-up!
Hope I helped a lot of others too : DI have this problem, I think we're boned until valve launches steampipe as The Qless mentioned.
